Remember
When we lived
In the tiny cottage
With single-pane windows
I didn’t mean to follow
In your footsteps
I meant to forge
My own glittering path
Snowflakes fall
Filling arches in our entryway
From Thanksgiving
Through the end of winter
Let’s go to the sea
And watch the sunrise
Through the mist
When I give you red
Do you taste
Paprika, chili or wine?
She’s too vibrant
Too friendly
Too passionate
My heart did cartwheels
When you surprised me
A blustery November day... but yesterday I wore short sleeves and had a picnic lunch on the deck!

Paintbrush poised
Above her eyes
Gently rocking back and forth
On the ferry ride to Port Townsend
I’ve been working on my eCourse
Trying to weave a path of color
