Flutter

My heart did cartwheels
When you surprised me
Only 24 hours
For puzzles and cribbage
Beach walks and movies
Hearing your stories and listening
To your laugh

Now I’m waving you away
From the deck
Standing in the rain
Until I can’t see your car anymore
My heart flutters
With the memory of you
