Poetry Challenge Day 14: Late

Late

Gently rocking back and forth
On the ferry ride to Port Townsend
My hands and jeans
Stained teal, purple, orange
After a day blending color
Onto canvas

We’ll grab dinner
And a documentary
At the old fashioned theatre
With mismatched sofas
Piled with pillows
And wine served in plastic cups

I’ll take the late night ferry
Back to the island
Fall into bed
And wash the paint off my fingers
Tomorrow

P.s. I actually wrote this on the ferry on my way to meet up with my Aunt in PT. We watched the documentary ‘Fabulous Fungi’ and ate mushroom burgers (of course!). I highly recommend the movie, especially if you can watch it in the quaint, old Rose Theatre in Port Townsend!
