Yes, there are many, many on-line and printed Color Palette cards out there… and we believe they are a lovely first step. However, we wanted to give you more than just the 5-6 most prominent colors in an inspirational scene, because our purpose is in teaching YOU how to create gorgeous color palettes!
Our #1 goal is to help you see all of the incredible color nuances that make a scene so beautiful. This is why we give you FIVE color palettes to play with.
And, of course—coupled with the Color Cards and EYE FOR COLOR | Color Wheel System—we give you the tools to expand and tweak them to create color harmonies that make your heart sing!

We get it… Being color-lovers we’ve all been tempted to grab every single color from the hardware store display. However, as beautiful as those chips are – they‘re designed to help you choose a paint color from their product line… NOT to teach you about color, nor help you to pull color palettes together based on undertones and color harmonies.

Yes… and no. They are very close to all of the individual colors you have in your EYE FOR COLOR | Color Wheel System and work beautifully together to help you explore unlimited color combinations.
However, in some cases the cards are slightly different than the wheels. This is because they are produced on different printing presses with different paper and different inks.
Something we’ve learned: the colors on press can come out slightly different from day-to-day even when the press, the paper and the inks are the same!

We start with inspiring photos of every-day life — all photos taken by our team (no stock photos here!). Take this photo of an old wheelbarrow Beverly saw along a cobbled street in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico—keeping our eyes open and our cameras ready!
All colors are hand-picked—by us, of course!— to give you those special nuances of shadow and light
We look at more than just the most prominent colors—because those subtle nuances are the magic sauce in a dynamic color palette!
Color proportions are taken into account—along with how they are laid out—so the colors flow beautifully together
Then we go further—because there is never just one color palette in a scene—we give you 4 proportional color palettes (one on the front, 3 on the back) plus a more traditional color palette showing accompanying Color Cards of dominant and accent colors = 5 in total for every photo!
