There's something about the sea
There's something about the sea
The smell of seaweed and salty air
that clings to hair
and leaves a fine film on sun-touched skin
The sound of waves pulling back across loose rocks
tumbling them slowly into sand
The chattering of seagulls fighting over clams
and bits of crab left over from pots pulled up at dawn
The crunch of sand and rocks
beneath your feet
as you walk with head bent
searching for sea glass and agates and shells
until all your pockets are full
Watching the sun set
and the moon rise
reflected across water
and into your soul
