A few Autumn Poems
It Feels Like Autumn
I feel it, don’t you?
Crisp morning air
opening to warm days
Discarded sweaters
strewn on a bench here
a bush there
Smell of over-ripe apples
and pears and plums
as they meld back
into the earth
A squirrel digs tiny holes
throughout my garden
tucking in nuts and berries
for her winter feast
and for next years’
surprises
Autumn is in the air
I feel it
How about you?
Racing the Storm
Cool overcast
a hint of color in the sky
A day for warm tea and chocolate
and watching boats sail by

Watching the Weather
Dark and blustery
from summer to winter in a day
Autumn is painting the trees
yellow, orange, red and brown
luring me into the garden
to gather the last of the dahlias
and rake leaves into the compost
But for now, I'm staying inside
wrapped in a thick afghan
my grandma made
for just these kind of days
and watching dark clouds
chase each other across the sky
I love watching weather
I hope you do too
