Hope

Hope

In life's ebbs and flows
There are times when joy
Seems so far away
Sliding further and further
With each step
Our feet weighed down
Until even the memory of joy
Seems too distant
To have ever been real

And yet Nature
Waits for us to join her
Because you see
She understands
She knows how to carry away
The weights
We’ve piled onto our shoulders

She calls to us in bird song
In the drops of rain
Clinging to blades of grass
In the rays of sunlight
Filtering through trees
In the flash of wildflowers
Brightening a forgotten ditch
And in the heady scent
Of jasmine
Floating on the evening breeze

She waits for us to join her
To raise our arms into her branches
To dance barefoot on her soil
To breathe in her birdsong
And allow her to lift our worries
And blow them away
With her gentle breath
