Gone

You showed up one day
Howling at the door
Demanding to be part of our family

Fiercely protective
You terrorized the neighborhood
Raccoons, large dogs
And other cats
Ran away from you
People too
Kept their distance
From your famous southpaw

You were saving all your love
For us
And how could we resist?
We fell in love with you
