Nuno felting using hydrangea colors

making Nuno Felt Jacket

Nuno Felting with Purples and Teals with a Splash of Chartreuse

It’s a blustery day but lots of light in my studio thanks to 3 walls of windows.

Layering wool roving and various silks to create a short jacket in teal, purple, periwinkle, chartreuse and with just a hint of gold.

From my garden to a luscious color palette

One of my favorite flowers is the hydrangea - it’s ever-changing splash of color lasting long before, and long after, many of the other flowers in my garden have faded. From mid June through frost, the blooms offer up so many colorful palettes.

Of course, it’s not just the blooms themselves, but also the back drop of greens, from blue-green and olive-green in the shadows, to kelly-green in the sunlight. In the blossoms above, note how each floret has many different shades of purple and blue.

A lovely color palette is born!

Now, it’s just about playing with proportions, adding a bit of flair here and there… and the possibilities are endless!

I just can’t stop using these colors!
