Dive Into Nuno Felt:

Day 1:

Basics of Nuno Felting

On day one we will play with color and learn the basics of wet nuno felting. In the morning, we will begin with a hands-on approach to basic color theory by pulling together yummy color palettes with wool roving, silk and decorative threads. We will enhance our color palettes and explore exciting new combinations by using the color wheels and templates in EYE FOR COLOR.

After lunch we will choose a few of our favorite color combinations from the earlier exercise and employ the basics of wet nuno felting to create a number of color swatches of a size and shape that can be later transformed into coasters, arm cuffs or arm warmers.

These exercises will become the foundation for the more complex nuno felt pieces over the next couple of days.

NOTE: Experienced Nuno Felters can choose to create a larger piece such as a pillow cover or wall hanging.

Friday includes Coffee Bar, Lunch, Wine and Hors d'oeuvres

Day 2:

Decorative Elements Shawl

On day 2, we will learn how to create Color Eyes, Holes, Dreadlocks,  and other decorative elements and incorporate them into beautiful lightweight, and reversible, shawls.

Saturday includes Coffee Bar, Lunch, Wine and Hors d'oeuvres plus Dinner

Day 3:

Rosette Scarf

On day 3 of the retreat, we will increase our repertoire of decorative elements, including leaves, flowers, feathers and blends of color. We will then incorporate these colorful elements into reversible scarves.

Students can choose to create a thin scarf or a wider shawl in this design.

Sunday includes Coffee Bar, Lunch, Wine and Hors d'oeuvres

Day 4 (Optional Extra Day):

3D Effects in Nuno Felting
On day 4 of the retreat, we will go beyond the basics with advanced techniques in Nuno Felt. We will explore additional decorative elements, such as Shibori, felt resist and bead embellishment, to make either a pillow topper or wall hanging.
Monday includes Coffee Bar, Lunch, Wine and Hors d'oeuvres
